SHOTFIRER COURSE INFORMATION
COURSE AIM
This course has been designed to prepare candidates to meet the requirements of the Department of Mines And Petroleum (Resources Safety Division), WA Shotfirer's Licence.
OBJECTIVES
-
To provide practical blasting sessions of at least 6 hours under full supervision of a qualified instructor.

To ensure safe practical applications by use of full firing warnings, voice calls and placement of shotfiring assistants.
CONTENT
Topics covered include:
- Basic principles of Explosives
- Safely handling of Explosives
- Use of Explosives
- The responsibility of a Shotfirer
- Safe handling of Safety fuse, electric and Nonel initiation
- Current regulations dealing with explosives in W.A.
- Safety fuse, Nonel tube, Detonating cord and Electric firing
- Drilling and Charging operations
- Vibration calculations
- Management of Fly rock
- Misfired charges
- Explosive Storage
- Manufacture of A.N. explosives (ANFO)
- Delay firing
- Destruction of deteriorated explosives
- Transport of Explosive Category 1, 2
- Causes of premature explosions and misfires

Duration: 4 days theory, 1/2 day practical (inc assessment) & 1/2 day Exam
Total 5 days
Days: Monday - Friday
Times: Mon - Fri 8:00am to 5:00pm

FEES
$1000 per person + GST 10%
Fee is inclusive of all examinations, assessments and course notes.

LICENCE
Participants who successfully complete both theory and practical examinations and meet the requirements of the Department of Mines And Petroleum will be issued with a statement of attainment and the application form to apply for a West Australian Shotfirers Licence.
GENERAL NOTES
As places on all Shotfirer's courses are restricted to a maximum of 15 participants, prompt registration is encouraged. In the event that you register and then, for any reason, are unable to attend, we require a minimum of seven (7) working days notice for a full refund to be given.
No refund can be given once course commences!
Modular Training reserves the right to cancel this course should insufficient numbers register. Should this occur, those who have registered would be notified and registration fees will be refunded or, if requested, transfered to a future course.
